Young Adult (R, Drama, Comedy) B+

Mavis (Charlize Theron) receives a general e-mail from her high school boyfriend indicating that he is a new father to a baby girl.   She then decides to go back to town and win him over despite his having a new family.  It was interesting to watch how Mavis goes about trying to accomplish her goal, especially when her former boyfriend only sees her as a friend.  This movie worked because Charlize Theron was so excellent in her portrayal of the character.  Unfortunately the film falls a bit short on giving us a better insight into Mavis’s character.
