Winter’s Bone (R, Drama) B+

Ree Dolly is a 17 year old girl who is the main caretaker for her younger siblings and for her sick Mom. They are living in poverty and have to actually hunt for their own food. She learns they are at risk of loosing their house if her Dad doesn’t appear in court. Even though he didn’t keep the best company she has to set out to search for him. No one seems to want to help her and instead they actually try to discourage her from searching for him. This film reels you in emotionally when you see how these children are living. On the other hand it moves a bit slowly and it takes us a while to catch up to what Ree seems to know from the beginning of the film.
