Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (PG-13,
Drama) C+
Jake Moore (Shia LaBeouf) is a young stockbroker
whose world falls apart when the stock market crashes. He also happens to
be dating Winnie Gekko (Carey Mulligan) the daughter of Gordon Gekko (Michael
Douglas) who has served his time in jail for insider trading and has recently
published a book. His daughter doesn’t want to talk to him but Jake
Moore is interested in his advice regarding some business he wants to undertake.
Winnie warns Jake that he’ll only hurt then in the end. Unfortunately
there isn’t enough of Gordon Gekko in this film; it’s too much
about Jake Moore. Shia LaBeouf wasn’t convincing as a successful Wall
Street executive. There are also too many special effects shots and split
screens that just distract from the story.
