The Last Air Bender (PG, Drama, Fantasy) C

I was really excited about seeing this film when I first saw the trailer, unfortunately it was a disappointment. In this film by M. Night Shyamalan the world is divided into 4 nations that each have the ability to control an element of nature. The four elements are Air, Water, Fire and Earth. Each person can only control one element but when a boy appears who can control all four elements he brings hope to the world. The “Fire Nation” has taken over much of the world by force. The acting and screenplay in this movie weren’t very good. It also felt as if the scenes were badly spliced together since they lacked fluidity from one scene to the next. I decided to see this movie in 2D instead of 3D since I knew it was made 3D as an afterthought and I’m not a big fan of 3D movies. The special effects and fighting scenes were good though. The movie ends with a little introduction to the next film so it seems they hope to make a few more. Hopefully they will be better.
