J. Edgar (R, Drama) B

In this film directed by Clint Eastwood, Leonardo DiCaprio portrays the former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.  The film gives us a glimpse into Hoover’s personal life and how he ran the FBI.  It was interesting to learn to see the influence he had on the FBI but the movie felt to drawn out.  It keeps switching between an old Hoover who is dictating his memoirs and a younger version of himself.  There are some additional scenes of his young self that he doesn’t dictate in the book.  It would have been better if the movie just followed his life chronologically and dispensed with our having to see him dictate his memoirs.
