Haywire (R, Action) C

This is a film I was looking forward too but it was a big disappointment.  In it MMA fighter Gina Carano makes her acting debut as a spy that works for a private firm.  When her team betrays her she has to find a way to survive.  As soon as the movie starts she is on the run that seems to set us up for a wild action thriller.  She enlists the help of a civilian by borrowing his car and filling him in on almost one hour of the films content.  So we know that she survives fine up to that point, when the story catches up to the present there isn’t much film time left.   While the story wasn’t bad it was presented in a very segmented manner; the background music was poor and the fights weren’t as great as I expected.  I’ve seen better in movies such as Mortal Kombat or more recently Warrior .  This film is saved by the fact that it has some great actors such as Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and Ewan McGregor. . Hopefully Gina will get another opportunity with another film and a different Director.
