The Forbidden Kingdom (PG-13, Action/Comedy) D+

A high school student (Michael Angarano) gets transported to another world when he picks up a magical staff that must be returned to its original owner. Once the staff is returned the kingdom will be set free from an evil warlord. When he arrives to this world he meets a drunk (Jackie Chan) that helps him with his quest. They are later joined by two more people interested in freeing the kingdom. I usually like Jackie Chan but his acting in this film was really bad; the role of an older wiser mentor is not one that suits him. To make matters worse he provides the entire narration for the film which just felt empty of any emotion or conviction. It also seemed like there were some scenes missing since some of the characters suddenly change their attitudes and we are not shown why. Even the fighting scenes weren’t that great they just serve to showcase all the special effects.
