This movie is based on Micky Ward who was able to participate in a boxing match for the world welterweight title. Most of the movie is about his relationship with his family and his brother who had his shot at fame but fell into drug use. Instead of being a movie about winning a boxing match this is more of a story about overcoming personal obstacles.
