Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges) used to be a well known and sought after country singer who is now playing at small venues such as local bowling alleys and barely making enough money to survive. At the same time he is in extremely bad health and has a drinking problem. Even though he is going through a rough time the character is still very easy going and doesn’t seem to want to harm anyone thereby making him very likable and someone you want to root for.
