Charlie Wilson’s War (R, Drama) B+

This is movie is based on the U.S. Congressman Charlie Wilson (Tom Hanks) who was crucial to obtaining funding for Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion. The movie shows how a wealthy Texas woman (Julia Roberts) prompted the Congressman to intervene. The story and acting were excellent but the movie’s assertion that one single person helped bring the end of the Soviet Union and the cold war is not one I could believe or agree with.
