Avatar 3-D (PG-13,
Action, Sci-Fi) B+
A Marine who has lost the ability to walk gets
drafted to control a body (Avatar) that looks like the inhabitants in a
planet that a large group of humans have settled. The humans have all the
advanced technology and weapons while the local inhabitants (the Na’Vi)
primarily have bows and arrows. The Marine's job is to infiltrate and gain
the trust of the Na’Vi so that he can spy on them. Half the movie
is about him forming his relationship with the Na’Vi princess who
is placed in charge of teaching him their customs. The special effects were
excellent and the story keeps you fully interested most of the time, it
was a bit drawn out during the first half. There weren’t any memorable
3-D effects were stuff is thrown at you, it’s more of a 3-D effect
to make you feel you are inside the film.
